Fasttype is an Opensource initiative for any (wo)man that wants, for any reason, not use a standard keyboard layout. Fasttype is a userspace driver that has its own hashed dictionary that resolves numbers to text. Eventually it will also recognizes errors, user defined macro's etc.
This projects primary target is to help a disabled boy at my school, Eric, which is now using a fullsize keyboard based on light input. His communication abilities are good but to slow to paricipated well in a fast meeting.
